TOUR RATING

ActRating

Two days of moderate trekking (approximately 11-14 miles per day); one day of whitewater rafting (class III-IV with optional class V section); four days of strenuous sea kayaking (5-7 hours per day)

The route we traverse is what Magellan couldn't find, a liquid path across the Andes. This rugged and spectacular trip is for those looking for and accepting a real adventure. The newest route across Patagonia starts high in the Argentine Andes and follows the Futaleufú River into Chile all the way to the Pacific Ocean. We start by trekking along the river, switching to rafts, before sea kayaking to the ocean for the final leg. The Andes to the Ocean is a demanding adventure, as conditions can change from strong sunshine and delightful breezes into a rugged physical challenge of paddling into strong wind, waves, rain and open water. But with the right attitude, the experience will be profound as we travel across Chile under our own power.

Patagonia Adventure Tour Overview

Day 1: Transfer from San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina to Futaleufú, Chile

Days 2-3: Trekking along the Rio Futaleufú, past the enormous rapids Zeta and Throne Room. Stop for the night at our deluxe riverside camp.

Day 4: Grab a paddle for an exciting rafting down the Rio Futaleufú, one of the most exciting and beautiful rivers of the world. Trade our rafts for sea kayaks to paddle the lower, calm water section of the Futaleufú.

Days 5-8: Continue our kayaking journey across Lago Yelcho, and down the Rio Yelcho, en route to the Pacific Ocean. Kayak directly into the Pacific Ocean, and to the beaches of the Chaitén, a small seaside fishing village. Celebrate the amazing accomplishment of traveling across Chile under our own power.

Day 9: Our charter flight brings us to Puerto Montt, Chile for connections home.
