Quaint coastal and island villages are the heart and soul of life in mid-coast Maine, where many locals still make a living the old-fashioned way—fishing, lobstering, and sailing the countless narrow channels and wide-open bays. Weathered wharfs stand in contrast to colorful “painted ladies”—lovingly restored Victorian inns—and we take in both with equal delight. Bountiful seafood and sweet Maine blueberries are staples of our well-earned meals. On foot and by paddle we discover the many delights of Maine’s sublime coastline.

Maine Walking Tour Overview

Day 1: Tour begins in the seaside city of Portland, Maine and we then walk through birch and pine forests with glimpses of the rugged Maine coast. Enjoy succulent Maine lobster for lunch before kayaking past sea lions and solitary lighthouses.

Days 2-3: Explore the many trails and vistas of Acadia National Park.

Days 4-5: Transfer to our Camden inn. Hike Mt. Battie and take in its superb views of the harbor and Penobscot Bay. Poke around in the many craft and art galleries in Camden’s classic village.

Day 6: Depart Camden after breakfast and say farewell to new friends in Portland.
