Expert naturalist guides enhance our time on the trail, unraveling the mysteries of the forest. Whether you spend the day soaking in natural hot springs or challenging yourself to an invigorating hike, in the evening you will be welcomed home to cozy lodges with immense stone fireplaces and views of the water to toast another day well spent.
Washington Hiking Tour Overview
Days 1-2: Meet in Seattle and depart for Lake Quinault, where we explore old-growth rainforest on foot. Daily hikes with our naturalist guides are complemented by optional early morning and evening walks on our lodge’s extensive trail system. Experience the quintessential temperate rainforest: towering trees, enormous ferns, brooks, and bright green moss draped from every limb.
Days 3-4: Tidal pools teeming with life and deserted Pacific beaches are ours to explore at low tide. Wilderness and coastline meet with rare beauty here, where huge logs from fallen trees deep in the forest are carried by springtime runoff to the ocean. Follow a morning of peaceful rafting with an afternoon of hiking or soaking in natural hot springs at Sol Duc.
Days 5-6: A magnificent hike on an open ridgeline provides expansive views of the forests and coast that we have explored in the past days. Impressive Mt. Olympus lords over the landscape. On our final day, take a morning walk to Marymere Falls and have lunch in the charming Victorian town of Port Townsend, with the opportunity to poke around some of its many galleries, before our ferry returns us to the heart of Seattle, where we say farewell.
