What Our Guests Have To Say About This Tour

Our trip was Magical

To be able to spend a week traveling with family in such a beautiful place with such a special guide was everything we could have hoped for and more.

I Applaud Boundless Journeys

★★★★☆

My insight for our trip is that most companies can promise a lot but often don't live up to that promise. Boundless Journeys made promises and when something went wrong, they put in the effort to make sure that our trip still went off with as little inconvenience to us as possible. That is a real sign of professionalism. Traveling leaves one open to unexpected situations but it is how those situations are handled that makes a great company. I applaud Boundless Journeys for being on top of their game.

Absolutely Magical!

Our family Christmas trip to Costa Rica was absolutely magical. We were able to experience the volcano and hot springs, the wildlife in the rainforest and relaxation at the beach. Perfect combination! It would be hard to choose one day as a favorite because they were all so different and so wonderful. I loved white water rafting, sky bridges, coffee tour and the beach.

Amazing Adventures

★★★★★

After talking to several of the top rated active travel agencies I was impressed by your portfolio and how much you were willing to customize our experience to our desires. VERY hard to pick our favorite day. I think our day near Arenal where we did repelling, zip lining then by talking to Dauren ended up exploring roads and seeing SO much wildlife with our remaining part of the daylight. Follow that up with returning to our room at Nayara, visiting their hot springs on site and finally having a late dinner there on site. It was a packed, amazing wonderful day and by the end we couldn't believe it was just one day! Amazing adventures curated so you don't have to make decisions during the trip BUT you can also pursue when you want in the moment!

This trip was simply spectacular. Every minute seemed to bring a new and interesting experience-- everything from seeing dozens and dozens of interesting birds, most of which I had never seen or even heard of, to watching a turtle lay several hundreds of eggs. It was magical!

Weather

Generally, the rainy or "green" season is from May to mid-November. The dry season runs from mid-November to April. In the northwestern province of Guanacaste, the dry season lasts several weeks longer than in other places. Even in the rainy season, days often begin with sun, with rain falling in the afternoon and evening. On the Caribbean coast, you can count on some rain year-round, although this area gets less rain in September and October than the rest of the country.

The temperature in Costa Rica is influenced by altitude, and varies little over the course of the year. In San José and the highlands around Arenal, average temperatures range from 59 - 79 degrees Fahrenheit. The coastal areas are typically much warmer; the Pacific coast near Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park averages lows in the mid to upper 70's, and highs in the high 80's/low 90's.

When to Go

The dry season is from December to April. The highlands are truly dry at this time of year, typically with only one or two rainy days per month (although if a cold front comes in, a rainier pattern can prevail, even during the dry season). The Caribbean coastal region tends to have more consistent rainforest weather patterns, and can have rain year-round, usually limited to afternoon showers in the dry season.

The rainy season (or green season) begins in May and lasts until mid-November. During the day, skies are generally sunny, though they may give way to afternoon showers. It is important that you come prepared for a variety of weather conditions regardless of the time of year. Over the course of your trip, you will likely encounter both cool, rainy weather and warm, sunny weather!
