Amazon River Cruise, Peru - Boundless Journeys

Our trips to Peru and Machu Picchu

Peru is equal parts magnificent beauty, mysterious ancient cultures, and treasured heritage. In this picturesque and rustic country, messages from mountainside Incan temples seem lifted to the heavens on Andean peaks. Colonial cities bear witness to rich Quechua and Spanish traditions. Lake islands made of reed buoy entire communities. And rainforests host a diversity of Amazonian proportion.

For nature lovers, archaeology buffs, and adventurers of any measure, our itineraries reveal the country’s intimate heart. Trek along towering ridges of the ancient Inca Trail to the splendor of Machu Picchu … explore the shores and floating reed islands of Lake Titicaca … journey from our jungle outpost into the Amazon basin. At the heart of each of our adventures are the Peruvian people, so we’ve arranged private village visits to enlighten your experience.

Tales From the Trail, Peru: Land of the Incas

 - Ashley Morton, Boundless Journeys I had the fortunate opportunity to travel to Peru recently on a research trip to discover some new trails for Boundless Journeys. The first stop was the tiny airport of Puerto Maldanado and jumping off point for navigating the jungles and waterways of the Amazon River Basin.

At Boundless Journeys, we often find ourselves chatting with potential travelers about where to go next. Thinking of exploring Peru’s famed lost city of Machu Picchu this summer? Plan ahead – permits are going fast!

It happens every year, but 2012 seems even earlier than usual. Only 500 permits per day are issued for people to hike on the Inca trail into Machu Picchu, and already permits are sold out for almost the entire month of July.

An Update From the Foundation for African Medicine & Education

Testimonials

Tuscany walking and hiking tour"When I planned to make a trip to Italy I knew I wanted to feel it as much as see it. I was hoping to eat good food, drink great wine, and then hike off all those calories. I did just that, while getting vast knowledge about the art, grapes, and architecture. Our guides Alex and Christopher are an asset to your company. Without them the trip never would have been as memorable and enjoyable. We all agree it exceeded our expectations. I have begun my own 'Boundless Journey.'"
