COVID operations FAQs

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we have been adapting to the sometimes daily changes in health recommendations, travel restrictions, and government policies, along with modifying our operations accordingly. We have received many calls and emails and hope that this page can help answer any questions that you have, but as always, please feel free to contact us directly, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Is Boundless Journeys' office open?

Until further notice, our Vermont-based home office staff are currently working remotely. However, you may easily reach us by phone (800.941.8010) or email (info@boundlessjourneys.com).

Do you have any domestic trips?

We understand that you may be hesitant to travel far from home or internationally, but you may still be looking forward to getting away when this is all over. For 2021, we are offering a Vermont: Best of the Green Mountain State trip in our own beautiful state of Vermont. Other 2021 domestic destinations we are offering include: Washington’s San Juan Islands, New Mexico, North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, and New York’s Adirondacks.

Can I take a trip with just my family?

Yes, absolutely! If you’re looking for the ultimate in exclusive travel experiences, gather your family and take over a scheduled group departure, or let us customize an epic adventure all your own. When you do the dreaming and we do all the planning, the possibilities are, as we like to say, boundless!

When will you make the decision to cancel a trip due to COVID-19?

Our top priority is keeping our guests safe. At 45 days prior to departure for both our small group and private adventures, Boundless Journeys will make the determination regarding operating a trip based on information from the U.S. State Department, World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and our local partners. However, as things change daily, we will cancel the trip within the 45 day period should the situation become unsafe after our initial determination.

What happens if Boundless Journeys postpones my trip due to COVID-19?

Your safety is our number one priority, and we will not operate any trip if the experts (World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control, and our local partners) indicate that it will not be safe to do so.

For small group and private departures before December 31, 2021:
If we postpone, change, or cancel your trip, you will have the option to travel on new dates that we provide or accept a travel credit good for future travel. We may in our discretion, allow you to transfer to another destination.

I'm considering a trip in 2021. Should I start planning and reserve now?

If you are dreaming of an adventure in 2021, it is time to start planning! We are all long overdue for an adventure. Destinations around the world are opening to travelers, and local governments and health authorities are enacting measures and protocols to open responsibly. Trips are filling fast as many of our 2020 postponed travelers have moved their reservations to 2021. We are looking forward to having you join us on any Boundless Journeys trip when you’re ready.

Can travel insurance help me?

Unfortunately, this is a complicated question. It depends on which company and which policy you purchased, as well as the reason for why you are canceling your trip. Generally speaking, unless you added the “Cancel for Any Reason” coverage, likely nothing related to COVID-19 is covered under travel insurance.

The best thing to do if you have specific questions about your coverage is to call your travel insurance company. Understandably due to the global travel situation, you are likely to have a long wait time to speak with someone. However, a policy expert is the best person to speak with.

If you are interested in reserving, we are happy to provide a quote for travel insurance that includes the Cancel for Any Reason coverage.
