mombo camp: A legend reborn
Newly rebuilt in 2018, Mombo Camp has been reimagined — designed and executed to seamlessly blend a new level of relaxed-yet-luxurious safari accommodations with the jaw-dropping wild beauty of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. With an enviable location at the tip of Chief’s Island within the Moremi Game Reserve, Mombo Camp is situated in one of the most fertile sections of the Delta, where nutrients from upstream converge to support a vast array of wildlife. This incredible bounty of biodiversity exists astonishingly close (yet safely below) the raised walkways and verandas throughout the camp. A bespoke blend of natural, colonial, and modern touches set a casual yet luxurious tone. Wooden handrails and thatched roofs nod to the acacia scrub of the surrounding plains. Mangosteen and fig trees rise around you, providing dappled shade. Wicker furniture, brass lamps, and campaign chests evoke the romance of early luxury safaris, while plush bedding and spacious seating areas ensure plenty of comfort.
All of this paired with some of the most jaw-dropping wildlife viewing to be found in Africa. Join us in experiencing the intimate beauty of Botswana, where the rugged landscape is always in view, wildlife roam nearby, and every need is catered to with exceptional hospitality and service.
Why Our Guests Love Mombo Camp
This trip was - hands down - the best vacation we have taken. The guides were excellent, the food was amazing (and plentiful), and the scenery and wildlife were unmatched by anything I have ever seen.
We continue to bathe in the rich memories of the trip and want to thank you, Karen, and all of your people who helped make it such an enjoyable, flawless trip. It certainly did exceed our expectations and we could not be more satisfied with your efforts….It was truly a lifetime experience we will treasure always.
We did a mix of mokoro and game drives: saw lots of lions, giraffes, elephants, hippos, and hyenas, as well as lots of birds while on the water. Saw large groups of giraffes and elephants crossing water, very close-up and impressive!
The closeness that we were able to get to the game was awesome. We were literally just feet away from mating lions, stalking leopards, lions eating their kill, the wild dogs, etc, etc. etc. I had no idea that we would ever get that close!
