GETTING AROUND CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

A stunning, multi-cultural city, Cape Town is just one of the stops available in Boundless Journey’s African safaris.

Make the most of your visit with the help of a driver guide. The city and its surrounding areas are vast, and public transport isn’t convenient for tourists. Your driver guide will provide an exclusive Cape Town, South Africa tour. They’ll usher you to tourist sites while enhancing your experience with insider stories and tips. They’re also happy to take you to up-and-coming wineries, hidden local beaches, and other lesser-known spots.

If a private driver doesn’t suit you, there is another way to tour Cape Town. There are two tourist bus lines that offer hop-on and hop-off service to several popular Cape Town sights.

Take in breathtaking views of jagged cliffs, the sparkling Pacific, and Cape Town itself from atop a mountain in the middle of the city. Your cable car will deliver you to the mountain’s summit in five minutes. If you can take your eyes off the scenery, take advantage of the walking paths that afford a look at local flora and fauna.

Company’s Gardens

Enjoy afternoon tea, lush gardens, and history. Established by the Dutch East India Company, these gardens are South Africa’s oldest. Originally used to grow fresh produce for passing ships, the park now includes a restaurant, an aviary, and a museum highlighting Cape Town’s history of slavery.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens

Nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch covers a vast 528 hectares of cultivated gardens and a nature reserve.  It’s the first botanic garden dedicated to conserving and displaying South Africa’s indigenous flora. While you’re there, visit this national treasure’s permanent exhibition of Zimbabwean stone sculptures.

Castle of Good Hope

Gain insight into South Africa’s history and soak in interesting architecture, period furniture, and views of Table Mountain.  Completed in 1675, it’s the oldest existing building in South Africa. The site houses three separate museums, including the William Fehr Collection, showcasing colonial-era fine paintings and decorative arts.

District Six Museum

Understand the impact of apartheid through the eyes of those who experienced it. Thought-provoking and moving, this museum memorializes the District Six community, which was destroyed during the apartheid era. Visitors are immersed in the stories of the displaced and this once-thriving area. Join a guided tour with ex-resident storytellers to get the full scope of its history.

Two Oceans Aquarium

Located at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, this wonder is home to over 3,000 marine animals.
