And you’ll discover the Yorkshire moors—so dramatically portrayed in the classic British novels of Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and The Secret Garden—have a character all their own.

Fellwalker and guidebook author Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast trail inspired our North England guided walking tour. Your adventure begins with a Coast to Coast tradition—dipping your toes in the Irish Sea. Then, treading on stone steps and dirt singletrack paths, you’ll walk through the heart of the Lake District National Park and visit the historic home of a literary great, William Wordsworth. As you walk the rolling pastures of the Yorkshire dales, you’ll pass an ancient stone circle and stop at a farm to watch a farmer working with his border collies to herd sheep. While hiking through hills of heather in the North York Moors, you’ll explore the spectacular ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, a once-powerful Cistercian monastery. You’ll then follow the coastline on a clifftop path to your journey’s end, the charming village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Throughout your England guided tour, you’ll learn about the region’s history and traditions and take tea (or a pint) at classic pubs.
