Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival in Casablanca, you'll be met by your program leaders and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival times, there may be an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely walk along the Atlantic coastline and begin soaking in the energy of Morocco's largest city. In the evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the journey ahead.

Upon arrival, settle into your accommodations and enjoy a relaxed evening in this fascinating port city where Africa and Europe meet.
Exploring the Highlights of Tangier
Today, discover the historic heart of Tangier with a guided exploration of the Kasbah and Medina. Wander through narrow alleyways, vibrant markets, and historic fortifications while learning about the city's unique role as a crossroads of cultures for centuries. You'll set out with your guide for a tour of the Kasbah — an old style of medina formerly used as a fortress — and the Kasbah Museum, housed in the former sultan's palace. As you walk past minarets, markets, and jewelry shops, your guide will regale you with stories about the people who have called Tangier home, including Paul Bowles, Henri Matisse, and Eugene Delacroix.
In the afternoon, participate in a hands-on Moroccan cooking class. Learn traditional techniques and recipes before sharing the delicious meal you've helped prepare.
Ermitage d'AkchourAkchour, Morocco
Ermitage d'Akchour is an eco-lodge situated deep in the Rif Mountains, Nestled along the river, it is the perfect basecamp for exploring the region. The property features traditional, comfortable cabins and a renowned outdoor terrace restaurant serving local Moroccan cuisine right by the river.
American Legation Museum & Transfer to Akchour
Begin the day with a special visit to the American Legation Museum, the only U.S. National Historic Landmark located outside the United States. Through its exhibits and collections, discover the rich history connecting Morocco and America.Afterward, leave the coast behind and travel into the Rif Mountains to the breathtaking natural setting of Akchour. Surrounded by dramatic peaks, forests, and crystal-clear streams, Akchour offers a peaceful retreat and the perfect setting for the next chapter of our eclipse journey.
Exploring the Wonders of the Akchour Region
Spend the day immersed in the spectacular landscapes of Akchour. Follow scenic trails through lush valleys, visit cascading waterfalls, and enjoy panoramic views of the Rif Mountains. For those up for more of a challenge, there will be an opportunity to witness to the famous God's Bridge, one of Morocco's most remarkable natural formations.
The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing, swimming in natural pools, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the mountains.
Chefchaouen, the Blue City
This morning, we'll to explore Chefchaouen, the Blue City. Our time in Chefchaouen begins with a walking tour of the city. Follow winding cobblestone roads and narrow alleyways full of brilliant blue buildings with red-tiled rooftops. Throughout your walk, your guide will share the fascinating history of this city and explain why the buildings are painted blue. You'll also have plenty of opportunities to photograph the town's vibrant street scenes. After an independent lunch, there will be time to explore the souk and its myriad artisan handicraft shops before returning to the resort.
As anticipation for the eclipse builds, we'll gather to learn more about the science, history, and cultural significance of solar eclipses in this region while preparing for the extraordinary event awaiting us tomorrow morning.
Eclipse Day, Continue to Tetouan
Today is the moment we've all been waiting for: the Total Solar Eclipse of 2027. Gather with fellow travelers to witness this extraordinary celestial event from our carefully chosen location as the moon's shadow passes over Morocco, transforming day into twilight and creating a truly unforgettable experience.
Following the eclipse, take time to absorb the moment and reflect on this rare phenomenon before departing the Rif Mountains. Our next stop is Tetouan, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its rich Andalusian influences and vibrant cultural traditions.
Exploring the Highlights of Tetouan
Spend the day exploring Tetouan, often considered one of Morocco's most authentic and culturally rich cities. Accompanied by a local guide, wander through the UNESCO-listed medina, visit artisan workshops, and learn about the city's fascinating blend of Amazigh, Arab, Andalusian, and Mediterranean influences. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to shop for final souvenirs and connect with local craftspeople whose traditions have been passed down through generations.
This evening, gather one final time for a memorable farewell celebration. Enjoy live local music, traditional henna artistry, and a festive Moroccan dinner as you reflect on the friendships formed, the places explored, and the extraordinary experience of witnessing a total solar eclipse together in Morocco.
